Hi, Have you tried the "How To" section? Look in the Advanced How To. Still stuck? Ask again, but let us know what seemed to go wrong...

what you need is a cd-rom start up disk. If you bought W95 or got the OSR version with your computer, you should have a floppy that you put in so the computer will read the cdrom and you can install W95 from the cd.

Lyn,

You can download a zipped copy of a Win95 startup disk with CD-ROM support from one of Doofus' pages:

http://doofus4real.virtualave.net/unicd.html

Make startup disk by unzipping UNICD.ZIP
Insert floppy and reboot.
(at DOS prompt) format c: /s

You can now access your cd to run setup
d:
cd win95
setup

Hi,

1. The first thing is to make a startup disk from add/reove programs int he start>>setting>>>control panel. to do this you will need your Win CD rom and a blank floppy handy.2. then you boot up from that floppy and make sure it had format.com and fdisk.com on it now. If not you have to find those files from dos windows directory and copy those files to the startup disk. 3.Then you boot the floppy again and type in fdisk and choose option #4 and check to see what your partitions are. If it is all one partition then go to the delete the partition option and delete the partition. The create a new partition, either the entire disk or set up more then one. Then go back to c:\prompt and type in "format /s" follow the instruction for formatting the new partition(s). Only use the "/s" switch on the primary patition. 5. wait till formatting is complete and then reboot with the floppy. Put the win 95 cd in the drive and at the "A" prompt type d:\setup (or other drive letter of CD drive). IF this makes the CD start to work and the install of windows begins Great, then follow the steps and eventually all your PLug and Play drivers should be recognized. If not all drivers are recognized then use "have disk" and insert the appropraita disc and chose the harware you have. IF when you typ in d:\setup nothing happens, then you must put that disk away and use the "recover" floppy that came with the computer and any cd rom with win 95 on it that came with the computer and then install will proceed automaticall.

If I missed steps I'm sure others will help. Good luck.

David
