Was cleaning out some stuff on my computer. Tried to restore my old Win 98 startup screen. Restarted and am now getting an "insert System disk" - inserted my Startup disk i made. Tried to rename lo.sys (or logo.sys file - i assume that's my startup logo?) or restore it but it's obviously in use. Can anyone help me with this? Can i run System File Checker or something in DOS? Would i be better off to install a fresh OS of Windows 98? Cheers!

Hi Brian,
Start the computer with the bootdisk.
At the A:\>type sys c: [Enter]
You should see a message that the system files were transfered.
Take out the bootdisk and restart the computer.

FYI, you don't mess with IO.SYS. That's the main DOS system file. The logo file is internal to it but cannot be altered. Adding a logo.sys to the c:\ folder will override the internal logo.

Cheers!!
PS - Thanks for the information regarding logo.sys, Larry! I've learned my lesson! :) Cheers again!
