W98 laptop does not detect i.beat move S(1st)

Specs: Windows 98
Windows 98 SE, laptop does not detect Trekstor i.beat move S (1st generation)
It did not have drivers with it when I bought it.
Win98 does read my other Mp3 player (which is older tho)
Trekstor.de does not have drivers either, just firmware for i.beat itself, and I doubt it's gonna help, however I'll give it a try

I read somewhere that win98 does not support USB 2.0 unless device has drivers specifically for it.
Is it true? or can I somehow get win 98 to read my i.beat? Like some kind of generic mass storage driver?

Im not sure is this hardware or software related, as i.beat should be like hardware, but drivers are software, right?

You need a motherboard that supports USB 2.0 & if you're running Win98, you'll need USB 2.0 drivers. The drivers are for the USB controller on the motherboard. Can't help because you didn't supply any info about your system. Did you check Device Manager to see if the USB ports are recognized & the drivers are installed?

As I said, id does read my mp3 player, which should also be USB 2.0 (1.1 looks a little different, right?). My USB port is recognized, and I think drivers are also installed, as , once more, it does read my Mp3 Player.

Also, I am not sure what kind of info should I supply you with? Motherboard brand/type? I am not sure about it right now, as I don't have access to my laptop atm.
However, my laptop is IBM Thinkpad... something. T20, 21 or 22. If one would know a way to know what's my laptop's motherboard, I'd be grateful ^^

I might have access to laptop in evening =)

@ X86 "Windows Millenium Edition has better USB Support, it is after all just a upgrade of W98 !"
I'm sorry, how does this help me?
I can't get another OS.
I need to know, whether there are some drivers /configurations that make i.beat move S 1st generation readable for my laptop? I have IBM Thinkpad T20
