Comment:
Norton auto-protect found this virus on my drive and eliminated it (it had already made 6 .enl files in 'my documents'). I did all the things they recommended for removal; used the tool, did the manual removal; Norton did not find any new viruses afterwards. However, I suppose if it pops up after 10 days it's not gone yet.
This next thing worries me though. Symantec say that Nimda can be used to install lots of nasties, i.e. that it is used as a carrier for packet sniffers, keystroke loggers and the like. Suppose there is no other way to make sure that you don't have any of those, is to format and do a fresh install?? Or is this scare mongery from Symantec? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Virus scanner should pick up on any packet sniffers and such, so I wouldn't worry to much about that. Although you could run a piece of software like zone alarm to see if any info you don't want leaving your computer is doing so.
Good Luck

As much as I like Norton, it doesn't always remove every reference to a virus or a worm.
When you have some time, go through you Win.ini, Sys.ini and the registry and search around for left over tags from the virus or references to the virus' original .exe file.
