It is usually a heat problem -- and RAIN helps most. Did you use RAIN1 or RAIN2 ? RAIN2 is required for automatic detection of the correct CPU type.

Anyway, try installing some extra hardware cooling. Software coolers are inadequate for heavy duty use because they only cool when the CPU can be suspended.

CPU core voltage should be set at 2.4v, you may need your motherboard manual to verify the correct jumper settings.

It is absolutely not a heat problem and entirely a software program. For background check the VXD article at www.techtony.com. VXD's are drivers and services that operate in reserved memory locations. (You're a programmmer?????) VXDfix.exe is a scam. (You said you were a programmmer????!!!!)
You need to rebuild your unique vmm32.vxd file by doing a faux reinstall of windows (into the same directory) with PC stripped of all card except video. VFAT errors may be from a bad vmm32.vxd file, old motherboard drivers, incorrectly configured VCACHE settings.
Increasing voltage settings helps with some moherboards -- at your own risk. But it helps with slow boots and no boots -- nothing to do with vxd's (you're a programmer?!?!?!?)
Rain is for cooling the CPU if you clocked it BEYOND the manufacturer's factory settings. An overheated CPU will sound a screeching beep and then lock up and almost all modern systems.

I beg to differ with Techtony, it is a processor stability problem, usually caused by overheating.

Not only that, but it is absolutely specific to AMD k6/2 processors. You wil NEVER find that error address associated with any other. Try doing a Goggle search for:

0028:C0005338
