Everytime I put a CD in my DVD unit a blue screen appears complaining about VXD read errors.

Same on HP7200i
Have tried fiddling with the power management on it to keep from haing it automatically spin down (a suggestion I saw at adaptec site) but that doesn't work either.

responding to myself here, just found reference to the cd_read.vxd error at
http://www.arrakis-ttm.com/cdr/tomtroubleshoot.html
It's mentioned that the install of the IOMEGA Recordit software for ZIP drives and is what is messing things up. I haven't tried it yet, but interestingly enough I installed that software just a short time ago. (FYI: that page I refer to has some good general info on setup of CDR/RW stuff.)

I had a lot of problems with crashes, especially at cd writing time with lots of lost data. Removed my Iomega SCSI zip but forgot about the drivers. Re-naming CD_Read.VXD got rid of the crash on startup. The thing that really cleared up the problem was searching for Iomega*.* and deleting all files and directories by that name. I tried everything else, (technicians, FAQs, software updates, if I had a nickle for every time I pushed CTRL-DEL...)

I'm having the same error with Win 95 and my HP 7570 and I installed a Zip 250 a couple of months back. I'll try to Unistall Recordit and then post what happens.
