I got a problem here... My PC kept on freezing and reporting Vxd expection errors so I (no money to send for repairs) took the painful decision to format it. But then after I format it, installed only the graphics and audio drivers. The problems persists- The vxd expection errors then after I tried to install my broadband, the windows fail to start restarting, each time. Media Player just freeze!
This's the third time I format my drive and maybe I shouldn't format my drive so many times. At leasts I manage to install my broadband and be online( That's how I manage to write this) But Media Player freezes and when I use the PC for same time, the Vxd expection errors appears causing permantly shutdown.
I was thinking
Software problem? (but I already format)
Driver mismatch (Graphics or Audio?)
Hard Disk failure (I got 1GB bad clusters out of 40)
Hardwares failures causing Vxd errors

Somebody pls gave suggestions?

Hello metroprimeus,
I got this problem as well in a different configuration I have ( Win 95 )
Problem occur when for any reason your internet program run ADSL configuration ( VXD drivers ) when you connect only via a modem....
To resolve the problem, you need to modificate the modem register on your computer to erase the VXD drivers.
GO to your control panel, find icon " NETWORK " open it, you see normally:
Client for Microsoft Networks
but you can see as well:
Client for Netwares Networks
which is normally the connexion needed when your computer works in ADSL in reseau
ERASE the line " client for Netwares Networks",
down watch if you have as adapters VXD resources, if yes ERASE all lines includind VXD adapters BUT !!!!!
DON'T TOUCH ANY OTHER LINES WHICH DON'T HAVE VXD INCLUDED, all the rest are needed for a normal use of the computer...
Reboot your computer, normally problem should be fixed IF YOU RUN WITH A MODEM
good luck

I was having blue screen problems with my Win98se sytem. I reformatted

c:\ and re-installed win98se. Near end of re-install, system displayed

this message:

Invalid VxD link call from NTMAPHLP + 00000002 to device "004F" service

1 Your windows configuration is invalid. run the windows setup

program again to correct this problem Continue Y N

Press Y and system gives same message, except:

000000DE Service 2

Then, system starts in WIN safe mode.

I've switched out 256MB sticks of PC100 RAM, and tried RAM slot 2, all

with same message. Some technicians suggest the problem may be the

motherboard circuts. Mother board = MicroStar MS-6163 BX-Master ATX

Also, downloaded and installed update for 1394 storage peripherals in

windows 98 se.

What can I do to make this computer useable?

You would be far better off to start your own new posting, rather than hoping someone will stumble across it on another persons topic.

Just go to the bottom of the computing-net page and you will see a form to fill in at the bottom.
