i have read the previous posts regarding this message, but couldn't find a follow-up that helped. i get the device file needed message at startup, followed by the vxd message, but i have recently deleted (uninstalled) mcafee safe and sound to download avg anti-virus software at the recommedation of a computer person at work. i can't seem to re-install mcafee. if i buy mcafee anti-virus, and install it, will this solve the problem? i recently had to factory restore my computer once and am not sure if i should do it again. thank you!

When you open the registry editor & find Vshinit , click on it to highlight it , click on File ( up the top l/h side ) .
Click on Export , you can select anywhere safe , I suggest either your desktop or a floppy .
Now if you need it again , it is easy to find .
See how you go .
PS . AVG is better than McAfee .
