don't listen to ding. Go to the computing.net
WinME forum and search for 'vredir.vxd' at
least one guy there has the patch.

There most certainly is a 4.10.2230, Win98 SE version of VREDIR.VXD available from Microsoft. Getting your hands on it of course, is a different matter altogether.

If you call their IT Professional support group at 800-936-4900, and pass the interview gauntlet er, process, they will then issue a case number and post the file up on their ftp site for you. (NOTE: Off the shelf installs and product upgrades are usually given a pass, OEM distro's are not. Also you DO NOT need to be at the computer when calling. AND by citing a specific KB article # and convincingly stating that it seems like it is related to your specific problem, you gain several points in the 'let us help you category' ~8^)). You then have a limited period to download the file and 'crack' it using the assigned password sent to your email address.

Check KB article Q293793 for details. And always remember... when searching the KB for tidbits, there is no rhyme or reason to expect that Microsoft has gone to the trouble of accurately cross referencing & updating every possible link to outdated KB articles.

The method above is a LAME way to get the
latest vredir.vxd file for Win98 SE. Search
for that file in the Computing.net Drivers
forum. There are several people in the
Drivers forum who have the latest vredir.vxd
files. Or you can ask me where to find
the file for Win98se as I found a site that
has the patch.
