Go into Control Panel, select MultiMedia and then Audio tab. Put a tick in "Show volume control on taskbar"

I'm having the same issue. I went to Multimedia. The "show speaker in taskbar" will not stay selected when I click ok. I've reloaded the snd drvr & Multimedia in Win95.
