Hi

I am wanting to get some virus software for my machine, as I am having some problems caused by my (very old) version of McAfee. Can someone recommend something, as it is ages since I did this.

I am willing to pay for the software, obviously, but would rather not pay for updates...

Thanks

The posting page provides a button to press before submitting your post. It looks to see if the question has been asked before and I am certain it would have revealed the following:
AVG by Grisoft

Make sure you do a proper uninstall of McAfee before adding AVG.

I have been using McAfee since version 4 and the only problem I ever had was with their (alledged) feature "Safe&Sound" which is no feature at all. If this is related to your problem then the uninstall may be more difficult than you might expect. If this is the case then search this forum board for the solution or post back and someone else will probably search for you.

Hi Andy!

If you don't want to invest money try www.antivir.de

This is a german software producer with very good AntiVirus Software, and this is free!
Download The personalEdition from the English Language section.
Remove all aother Antivirus Programs, which are installed on your computer. Also download the additionals commandlinescanner, the latest .vdf-file and the users guide.

Andy, If you want to get rid of McAfee the link below has simple, easy to follow instructions to rid it from your system. The instructions have worked well for many and they're in laymans language.

G'day mate,
Check out the following site for a free program called repellent. Works wonders and doesn't need to be updated.
