Virus scan at DOS level

Good Morning...this is actually page 2 of my earlier posting..."Defrag at DOS Level"... Chappie...thanx for the info...I found it on SureCool...just what I needed...
Question... We run Norton Virus scan...is it possible to run Norton at the DOS prompt...without loading the OS...??? Perhaps using just a boot disk and then running Norton Virus...???

when you installed Nortons AntiVirus, did you make the set of disks that it asked about? from memory it think nortons calls it "rescue disks"
if you did then you can run a scan from the command prompt in dos. apart from that, I dont think so HTH chappie

Yeah, NAVDX.exe is the DOS version of Norton Anti Virus - seems to work well, just keep your signature files up to date. It'll be on one of the rescue disks - or else squirreled away on the CD somewhere. You still have to load an Operating System - (hard to get around that one) but not the full Windows GUI. NDD.EXE is the DOS version of Disk Doctor - it's good too.
