with info provided only thing to suggest is to download the newest drivers for your video card.

It sounds like some component in your video card is dying. When your screen is not garbled, Device Manager will tell you the device is working fine, then some failing component heats up in the soundcard and probably Device Manager would tell you that your video is screwed up but you can't see it.

If you want to check it out, buy a cheap, used video card and stick it in the computer. Even a 16 color card. If the video works fine then you can go out and buy a good card.

don't overlook the possibility that the power supply is defective. check whether it gets hot (feel the case adjacent - it should be warm but not hot - also check that the fan is working). if the power supply has overheated for some time, it can suffer voltage drops or spikes that might not show up in the same way if you try a cheap video card.
best of luck
