OK, I am CLUELESS with computers. I have been having loads of problems recently, like colours being stuck on 16 (I have fixed this) and not being able to access games or webpages. With the colour problem I was told:

"Go to you video adapter in your display properties, and reinstall your video card and drivers."

I somehow managed to do this, but I have very little idea how. I don't think I did it very well, because I am still having loads of problems with other stuff, (details at http://computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/122520.html)and i am always being told stuff to do with video cards and adapters.

("get the latest drivers for your video card drivers from the factory")

but back to the basics, what is a video card/ adapter/ driver? And how do i reinstall them or whatever I need to do?

Thankyou very much! Please try to keep it simple, bear in mind I am not good with this machine!

I have also been told to reinstall sound drivers. What are they? I'm sorry I don't know anything about this, are they on CD or the internet or what? I am out of my depth! Thankyou very much!

Installing drivers shouldn't be that hard. Just right click on My Computer->Properties->Device Manager and go to the specific device you are looking for (in this case sound or video). Then double click on it and choose update drivers (it should be on one of those tabs). This will give you a prompt asking you where to install the drivers from. Choose browse if you have a cd with the drivers, otherwise connect online and let it search and download it online for you.

Hope that helps.

Kevin.

Ok, not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but I'm rather new to Forums. I have the following card:

Brooktree Bt848KPF
VIDEO DECODER
767 9705
(this is a chip on the card)
--------
PHILLIPS
3139 147 13781P
FR1256/PH hm
sv20 9710
made in singapore
(this is a TV and FM tuner)

I don't have the brand name of the card, nor any other information about it. I need to find drivers for ANY windows OS. I'm running XP currently, but have a copy of each Windows version.

If anyone can help, please email me directly.

Thanks!
