I dual-installed 98SE/XP on this machine and everything works OK except that I can't get any video card (PCI, AGP, on-board) to install on the 98SE side. (XP side works fine.) I keep getting this message on the properties tab: "This device cannot find any free I/O Range resources to use (Code 12)". When I go to resources it won't let me modify any of the resource settings. I also get the message that there is a device (ACPI) which is in conflict with the video adapter but I can't find a way to modify the I/O settings. The Phoenix Bios does not show any resource settings either. Further, I get good indications that the drivers are loading OK but this resource conflict has me stumped. Any suggestions? Thanx

Try adjusting the resource settings thru Device Manager, not the BIOS.

Have you installed the 98 motherboard chipset drivers? They will usually update the AGP. Then try installing the video card drivers.

Some systems with 98 will show ACPI problems with ram above 384 meg. Sometimes a bios upgrade fixes that. But you might try reducing the ram at least temporarily when installing the drivers.

Jam - I have been trying to modify the resource settings thru device manager but all I get is a message that the settings can't be modified, and THAT'S the problem. Anyway, I'll try Dave's trick of reducing memory. What's interesting is that it's the memory range in the resources that are showing the error, not the IRQ settings.

Be sure to install the chipset drivers too. That might be all you need to do.
