Trying to install a nvidia video card in my ECS motherboard(chip set is P6set-ml)
I have tried it 2 ways.Installing the drivers first, but it says there is no nvidia chip in my system so it wont load the drivers.Secondly i plug the card in and wait for plug and play to read it.I get a black screen no matter if the monitor is plugged in the on-board video or the new card?
Any ideas?I know the slot works casue i pulled

It seems that the onboard video is not being disabled when you install the card, so you will need to do this in the BIOS before installing the card.

Try booting into safe mode and going to device manager. I think you will find multiple instances of installed devices. If so, remove all instances of any device that has more than one entry (2 or 3 video cards for instance). The exception is System Devices, leave them alone. If you do find this issue, remove all before re-booting. After re-booting you may need to supply drivers for some devices. Upon re-booting, enter the BIOS and see if there is an option to disable onboard graphics. If not, set the memory allocated for onboard graphics to 0. While in the BIOS, disable any onboard hardware that you don't use, like modem, sound com ports, printer port, network, firewire, etc. If the computer still won't boot after that proceedure, then shut down and clear the CMOS. You will then need to reset all settings in the BIOS that aren't default.

You say your screen is black no matter which video port you plug into?
Have you tried putting a different monitor on that PC?
