My system: Athlon TBird 1 Gig, 256 Megs DDR Ram, 20 Gig HDD, Geforce2 GTS 32 Meg AGP 4x Graphics card w/ SVideo Out, Hitachi GD 7000 DVD, Mid Tower case, bultin stereo sound, ECS K7S5a mobo (266 MHZ FSB), Win98SE.
I'm interested in making video captures from my VHS tapes. Ideally I want captured video files to be >= 640x480 24bit Resolution (sharp visuals) @ 25 FPS with 44Khz 16 Bit stereo sound. No doubt the capture card needs to be a PCI device with composite Video In and Audio In (perhaps this is done thru my standard sound card?).
Can you suggest excellent quality capture cards for making high quality video files and snapshots BUT is actually at an affordable price? As you can see I already have a top notch graphics card (Geforce2 GTS) and so only need to add video capturing abilites.
Thanks for any info.

We have installed the Hauppauge TV card on our P3 500 W98SE computer which is superb, easy installation.
It makes a useable second TV. We also use snag it to capture stills or make videos mainly from TV progs or camcorder.
