Comment: I just got highspeed internet and and it is very slow ,slower than dial up. I did speed test at speakeasy and adelphia speedtest. My upload is good but my download is 21 kps and sometimes it gets to be 30 and 40. i talked with tech support and they said everything looks good from there end. But, he noticed that there was alot of udp traffic from my computer... Like spy ware or somthing. I scanned with ad-aware,spybot S&D,AVG antivirus and trendmicro spy and antivirus. I use a motorola SB5100 modem Netgear card and adelphis internet I have no Idea what to do next. any suggestion?

Reply: (edit)Have you a firewall? If not then get one (apart from whatever else you might need to do). There are freebies around, such as Sygate. Might as well do your general housekeeping too (clear temporary internet files, defrag etc). DerekW

Reply: (edit)I have heard some bad things about adelphis. Friends of mine have it and they say that it is very slow. In my area we have Comcast High Speed Internet and it is very fast compared to dialup. There are some add-ons you can use to help speed up your downloads. I use a simple program called Download Accelerator. Between that and my cable connection, my average download speeds were around 1,000kbs. Right now I only have dialup but I'll have the cable back soon. I miss it. When at first you don't succeed... Ask at Computing.net... They always have the answers...
