I'm totally stuck with this message... please help me out here. When I boot my PC it stops on the verifying DMI pool data. I've tried two things that have been sugested to me. I've tried to make a bootdisk (win98) on another computer I have, copying the sys.com file to the diskette, then booted with the new diskette and finally wrote sys a: c: and rebooted again without the boot diskette. This did not help. Also I've tried to move my primary disk to the end of ide cable I'm using. This did not help either. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I had this problem too.
I solved it by doing this :
-put boot disk in and boot to a: prompt
-type fdisk /mbr (press enter)
-Follow instructions
-Remove and RebootAndy
Also, try a Web Search for VMI Pool Data, you'll come across lots of links for fixes.

use awdflash to clear DMI pooled data. The newer virsion of Awdfasher software will let you do that.

Thanks andyask. your fdisk /mbr tip ended a two week frustration session....during the east coast heat wave of '99 ......
thanks, i needed that !!

Hi !
I have the same problem but the pc is frozen
after the message Verifying dmi pool data
So i can't boot on a floppy.
I tried to remove the eprom as i had been told by someone, nothing is working,
What can i do ??Thanks.

My office got this message and I try fdisk /mbr method. After that system not booting. I would like the solution to solving the DMI Pool Data Message.
Thank.

had the stupid dmi pool junk coming up until i went into the bios and based on the suggestion above i changed hd status to user/large not normal or lba and it got past it and into windows
thx all

having the same problem. Tried to change hd status to user/large, but didn't work. At restart it's saying "Invalid system disk" - but there is nothing in a: drive or the CD-rom, so what could be the problem?

Same Error obtained on a laptop:Suggestion was to boot the computer in safe mode i.e at starup keep pressing the F8 key to get to the startup menu.Select safe mode and then navigate to systems tools .Select software configuration utility and disable DMI by taking the tick off.Restart and VIOLA back into windows 98.

if you freeze at the DMI pool data..
go into the bios. set your hdd's to none/not installed reboot with a floppy.. it boots fine.. something wrong with hard drive... honest truth.. i disconnected and reconnectd the driver.. set bios to auto (like it was) and restarted.. worked fine... guess it was static or something

I had this same DMI prob. I did just as "plasmahawk" suggested. I went into bios and change hd to user/large rebooted and system working fine. Thanks for the info Plasmahawk!!
