Does anyone know what the pute is actually doing whilst the pute is verifying ?
My pute wont get past this section, i've tried holding keys down, i've tried having a boot disk in there....nuthin seems to work too well.

I assume by pute you are reffering to your computer and not somthing else. This problem is not due to a DMI pool failure but your Harddisk not starting. Striaght after Verifying DMI Pool Data... comes the bootup, if your HDD is not installed correcly or has been corrupt you will stay at this stage for ever baby.
Check out your Bios config to make sure you still have a Hdd configured i Bios. Right assuming your past that stage boot your computer up with a floppy and run Fdisk HAVE YOU STILL GOT YOUR PARTITIONS ?
if you have then access C:\ can your access it? if you can then type sys a: c: and reboot. Make sure that you have booted with the bootdisk correct to your OS and not a different version of Windows orelse this won't work
