I recently upgraded my computer to the current specs. Upon installation of drivers, etc, I get an error message that Windows could not find a mouse. I have checked connections, drivers, etc. Also, my BIOS does not detect a floppy even though the cable is in correctly and the drive works. AND, Windows takes forever to start up and shut down, it "hangs" I have downloaded Microsoft's shutdown patch, and right now I am thinking about just reformatting the disk. Any suggestions?

Hey Man Sounds like you may have a virus to me. Rather than just formatting I suggest you use Fdisk to delete and then recreate the partition as virus's can live through a format. Also you didn't say what current specs you upgraded to. In this or any forum, the more info, the more someone may be able to help you out.

what Stump means is, that if someone comes to a garage and says: I did something and now my car doesn't ride anymore, then any normal mechanic will ask: what did you do to the car? So tell us, what did you do.

My current congifuration is the celeron/ram, with a biostar board. It has onboard sound, a radeon 7500 video card, and a 56k modem. It has norton 2002 that is all the way up to date. So, if it is a virus, (i dont think it is), norton can't find it. My old configuration was a pentium 233 with 128 megs of ram. Whoa, I just had this thought. I used the same hard drive from my old computer and just installed the drivers for the new stuff. Could it be that there is a conflict somewhere? The device manager doesn't show one, but it doesnt know everything. Thanks.
