In Nero, on the menubar, goto Recorder and erase rewritable. Either format will work, however the full one is of course naturally more complete, so you should use that if you have the extra time.

Hope this helps,

Michael

Hi,I tried doing that and it seem to be erasing and then said (track following error).
There was no error details to look at.
Now,the cd that I tried to erase has never been formated.
What do you think?

Thanks

Alan

Hay,Michael I download the update that is the CDIN that is used to formating a cd-rw
and it works now but, only on CD's that have
already been formated. I have 8 diff......
cd-rw brand names and none work only ones that I have formated in the past by direct cd
or pre formated cd-rw will work.
This means that I can(reformat)only.
The same as when I was using direct cd.
For some reason I cant format cd-rw disks
anymore with direct cd this is why I am trying nero,I cant find the type of CD's that
will format using my direct cd and I dont know why.
I am broke from buying diff.... cd-rw CD's
none seem to work and no one has the answer to it that I can find.
Thank's

Alan

Dear Alan,

I have Nero 5.5 with Plextor software for my Internal PlexWriter CD-RW 40/12/40A with 4Mb buffer.

After initial problems over the "ASPI LAYER" (which took me 3 days to find out about after my computer got crashed by the new software!), the one thing I do understand is how to use the CD-RW "as a floppy" by formatting it. A 700Mb CD apparently gives you about 500Mb to use "as a floppy".

I have InCD software which comes with the unit. It is this that gives you the opportunity to use a CD-RW "as a floppy".
The new "Teac" CD-RW is even faster at "reading" (x 48) and has 8Mb buffer and requires only a short time to format "as a floppy" (not presently supported by MS though).

As for the "ICON", I have the InCD sitting in the bottom row six away from the clock area at the bottom right.

I am not sure whether you mean to use a CD-RW "as a floppy" or if you merely mean "deleting and wiping clean" a previously used CD-RW.

I would be glad to hear what machine you actually have and if what I have said makes any sense to you.

Regards and good luck.

Dear Alan,

I see it's a different manufacturer (LG). One thing I am not quite clear on;

Question:
Are you merely wishing to wipe clean a previously used CD-RW (i.e. erase it) or are you doing the special process whereby you format a CD to use it "as a floppy"?

It's the latter that I know a little about and have used InCD software made by Nero (and it's downloadable free of charge I recall reading a month or two ago).

If you haven't got InCD, (or similar), please check out the Nero Web Site and see if you can spot the free download for "InCD".

Would be glad to hear further about this.

I use x12 for the CD-RW and I got x32 for CD-R (but I have not used one yet). Most of the functions on my "PlexWriter" I find too complicated to understand (some 80 pages of a manual on screen to study). The best I can do is follow any Wizards and use the device "as a floppy" for back ups etc.

I know someone who makes music CDs and even with labels, - but I doubt if I could ever do any of this. Fortunately, I have sufficient music CDs and most of the artists I like are dead, so not too much material comes out, although we still get Elvis 25 years on after he died on August 16th 1977, (the same date as my birthday, not the year, just date). In fact, he was No.1 Top of the Pops over here for several weeks with the reworked film song "A Little Less Conversation"

Regards,

Victor

Dear Alan,

I am very pleased to hear that you located and downloaded the Nero InCD software (freeware) to use your CD-RW "as a floppy".

Hope this answers one of your queries completely.

Best wishes,

Victor

Dear Alan,

Are you finding that even "Nero InCD" is refusing to work on your CD-RWs?

If so, are you able to e-mail "LG" and request technical advice.

Regards,

Victor
