Ok, I am NOT referring to the image preview on the left pane of the screen in the "enhaned explorer" view or the thumbnail view option but the actual program used like in Win ME and Win 2000.
Win 98 requires many different programs to open different images like BMP JPG GIF and such and I noticed that the Image preview program of Windows ME opens all of them, is there a way to add it on to Windows 98?
I found a few DLL's that have to do with Image preview but before I risk corrupting my 98 system, does anyone have any suggestions on doing this? A list of all required DLL's and such or another simmilar freeware program that does this? Also, again to be clear, I mean this image preview program:

Thanks,

Sure, just upgrade to WinME.
Or how about a 3rd party app like Irfanview or XnView?

Ok, before I try these programs. Are they freeware? Or a pay program you get 20 days with or something like that?
Faris,

If you get IrfanView you will never look back. It is first class. There are plug-ins available to make it do just about whatever you like.

Agreed. If there ever was a "gotta-die-for" app., then it'd come closer than anything I can think of...

Agreed, Irfanview is a must have ! I like the slideshow & use this fine program for resizing big pics often. I have many image manipulating programs but use irfanview most. Highly recommended.
XnView

Thanks for all the other links. I haven't tried it yet but I'll do it either tonight or tomorrow and will let you know how it works.
Faris,

Hold down your shift key. Right click a image file. Left click open with. Scroll down the list and click on kodakprv next tick allways use this progam to open this type of file. then click OK. Now thoses types of files will allways open in Kodak Preview. As Kodak Imaging is allready a Part of 98SE makes sense to use it dont you think.

Sure thing Virtua, but have you tried IrfanView yourself? It knocks socks of anything else I've tried including all MS inbuilt stuff.
Does the lot, movies (all types, with sound), stills, slideshows, sizing etc. I've even resaved dodgy files with it and it has put them right. All that and more from a very small program.
