Using a PS/2 mouse on a serial port

My motherboard has only serial ports. So I can use only a serial mouse. But these mice are becoming very hard to find. I have a serial to PS/2 adapter (which plugs into the serial port) from which I tried to plug in a PS/2 mouse. But win95 doesn't detect it. How can I get my pc to work with a PS/2 mouse? Thanks.

I use a special PS/2 mouse designed to work on a serial port. Those models come with a two ends connector to adapt to serial:plug the PS/2 on one side of the connector and the other side is plugged in the serial port.I found mine at ToysRUs in the video games and electronics area.Good luck.

Yeah, not all PS/2 mice will work with a serial adapter. Sometimes it'll say on the box that it's serial and PS/2 compatible.

Rac is right. Advice like "buy a new computer" is not helpful.
Serial mice are becoming scarce. However, CompUSA.com still lists one online for $3.00. Micro Precision brand, product #50025006. Unfortunately, it is not available in their retail stores, but more expensive dual-mode (PS/2 or serial) are.

Thanks, but I guess I would still have to get a serial mouse. For a PS/2 mouse to work it would have to be wired as a serial. This doesnt make sense, it would be the same as buying a serial mouse. Those dual serial-PS/2 mouse would be almost extinct in my country. And a PS/2 isa/pci card is really expensive about US$30-50 bucks. So I guess my only option is to search for an old serial mouse, Cause my pc runs the internet very well.
