usb with win 95

i have win 95 installed in a motherboard with usb but they do not seem to be recog i have a printer that has a usb and it does not seem to detect it is thare adapter to plug a usb to a parrelel connecter

You may have to install the USB drivers from the CD that came with your motherboard. That should fix your problem.

If you are using Windows 95 OSR 2.0 there are patches to add USB support for it. See this page:

Don't expect much with this setup however. USB was introduced into Win 95 OSR2 (aka 95B) as a prototype for what came later. Support is patchy and basic, so while the printer may work since it is basic technology, not much else needing USB will.
I strongly recommend updating your Windows to gain full support, and to cover all the security issues fixed in the last two years, which Win 95 users haven't had patches for since support for this version ended December 2001.

the pc with windows 95 is one i have put together for the children i have treid to install win 98 but after formating hard drive can not install anything i have downloaded no end of startup and boot disks and all i get is verifying pool data or incorrect disk i can not type anything etc so in the end i go back to hard drive with win 95 i have tried installing win 98 without formating but get nowhere

What did you format it with? How about sticking a Win 98 bootdisk in, doing fdisk first to wipe the drive clean, then set the partition and format to FAT32?
