I posted a message previously, but still do not have a solution. Rather than retyping again, anyone interested, please take a look at mesage #57673. Now, one person has suggested that I might be having a problem with the USB Host Controller. Does this sound like a possibility and if so, what can I do about it?? Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Have you tried a BIOS flash? Updated USB drivers? Up to date printer driver? See if your mainboard's manufacturer has newer inf files, but be prepared to reload most if not all of your drivers when you update the chipset drivers. Especially on a 440 chipset board.
IRQ problems are rare with busmastering.
FYI, anything on USB has an IRQ of 11 on your machine.

rk.... Thanks for your suggestions. I have never done a 'BIOS flash' or 'Updated USB drivers?' nor 'update the chipset drivers'. That all sounds a bit scary to me. Suppose I'd best try to find a reliable tech shop locally, unless you can educate me on this a bit more. That would probably take time, and I might still be hesitant to try anything that new to me. Thanks again.... D.

Summary: What mboard model is it? Win 98 has built in USB 1.x support. At least some of your USB devices should work in USB 1.x mode in any case. If there actually is no setting to enable/disable the onboard U...
