Ok I have a AMD Athlon 800mhz.
Problem I'm having with my USB ports is after a while they will just die. Nothing on the USB ports works. I do a reboot and the USB devices work for a while then die shortly after wards
This Problem just started a few days ago(Been using this computer with no problem like this for over a year)
I have no clue what could be causing it.
All I have connected to my USB ports is a USB hub(with a Joystick pluged into it) and my mouse is pluged in to my Computer USBs port.

All right,
I have a old AMD k6-2 400mhz, I am attempting to just get the USB port running through the host controllers but it does not work. I do not have the Win98Se cd (destroyed through uncontrollable means) and I am just doing guess work at what the problem maybe. I've done a bunch of reading on the subject and solved problems with the openhci.sys file but i am in need of some other updated files. other ones beinging usbhub.sys, usbd.sys. Also if possible, could someone send me a list of the files for the host control driver.
Thanks Burt

To the first issue -
try removing the hub and running the joystick directly to the pc. It sounds like something is drawing down the usb power, and I would suspect the hub. It is not needed anyway if only one device is connected to it. To the second issue...sorry, that would take a bit of research and I'm afraid I am short on time. Maybe someone else will help.
good luck to both of you!

Hiroyuki:
Try swithing them. The joystick may need to be plugged directly to the PC if the hub is not self powered.
Burt:
Get a WIndows SE disc and use Device Manager to remove and refresh the USB controller. Use the right versions of Windows to avoid issues.

The guy in the store told me it causes conflicts when I wanted to buy a hub with 4 ports. He adviced me the cheeper 2 USB pci-card.

I had both the Mouse and the Joystick pluged directly into the 2 usb ports on the computer. I go into a game and fly around abit the Joystick dies right in the middle of the game, mouse dies shortly after.

It does it in both MS Combat flight Sim and Xwing Alliance(but I dont think it's a game issue)

In the year I had this computer I never had a problem like this. It just started Thursday. I downloaded the AMD USB 98se fix from microsoft still I get this problem.

P.S THE hub is both Self powered and Bus powered I've always had it Selfpowered.
