There are two ways to fix this error.
1) Delete APM in Device Manager.
2) Enable USB legacy keyboard support in BIOS.
Main fix is #2. APM works with fix #2. See prior posts on this message board.

Dear Dan:

is this because I have an older keyboard (18 pins) that the "USB legacy keyboard support in Bios" should be enabled?

Here is what happened to me:
in device manager, usb controller folder, the "USB root hub" has a yellow ! with it. I went to its property, it says: "NTKERN.vxd could not load the device driver", "to fix it, click update driver".

After clicking it, it starts searching for "best driver" in path I give. it prompted me to insert Win98. then it says "the closest match of the best driver is already in your c:\window\ini\usb.inif" , do you want to replace iti". So far normal.

I clicked yes, then it starts copying files and in half way, the system gives a "page fault fatal error" the system frozes.

I don't understand nor know how to fix it.
Was it that because my system is obslete and I have some "legacy device"?

thanks in advance for enlighten me.

regards,

ping
