This board was the first time my MS intillimouse optical ever worked on the USB and I had it for over 2 years I was so happy to get rid of the PS2 adaptor now THIS ,I dont know how much power USB devices use but could my 300 watt power supply possibly not be enough for this setup ,I originally had a athalon 1300 on a gigabyte GA7DX with no problems except no USB mouse support ,please some one offer a suggestion I am stomped, oh yeah there is also a SMC 1211 series network card in there with a PNY gforce 3 ti200 card THANK YOU in advance for any help...........LIVE LONG MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS :-)

Reply: (edit)Lionel, I know you have removed and reinstall the drivers but what is listed in the Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus Controllers? I do not believe the 300 Watt power supply is the problem. You would have many other problems than just the USB ports. While your looking in the Device Manager also ensure that in the Properties for each that Disable in this Hardware Profile is NOT checked and that Exist in All Hardware Profiles IS checked. Post back. Mesich

Reply: (edit)You are using an extention bracket that goes where an expansion card would go and the cable from the extention bracket goes to the USB connection on the motherboard. Is this correct? Mesich

Reply: (edit)The USB Expansion Card on the PC it's associated cable or one of the devices has a short and resulted in the high current to burn out the resistors around the connection on the motherboard. What was the last devices connected to the USB Ports? Check out there cables. Normally a device will go bad and not short out unless the cable is damaged or something is spilled on the device while it is connected. Sounds to me like something like a glass of water was spilled onto the USB device while it was connected or the cable was damaged causing a short to burn up the resistors on the board. I would not trust the Expansion Card at this point either as it may be damaged. Look for any evidence in the cabling or on the USB Devices. Post back. Mesich

Reply: (edit)No damage that I can see on the cables and no liquids were spilled ,but a possibility that the game pad cable might have gotten in a very tight spot between the computer desk and the sliding keyboard tray----any suggestions for socket A mother boards ,Wow I am still in shock I have had this board less than a week and now this I mean it still works but I have noticed some glitches for example when I plug the game pad into the regular game port the computer refuses to boot the power led will come on and thats it ,I now have to HArd reboot alot at least every hour..LIONEL

Reply: (edit)Lionel, Let's just say it was nothing to do with spilled liquids on the USB Device or the Gamepad that was pinched. Try and take the board back and tell them it is bad. The local shop I deal with here has no problems with that as the board is under warranty. I would do it as you will only have problems from here out. Mesich
