I have tried windows updates and searching for drivers eith no success. Only seems to be with a memory key no matter what type as I have other usb stuff that works. Any ideas would be great thank you.

If the USB port in question works with other hardware then it must be a driver issue. USB devices do need drivers for each device in Win98. I'm not sure about this but you may also need to format the device.

No it didn't come with a disk. Yes I think it is a driver issue. Do you know where I could download or update a generic usb driver for Windows 98?

There isn't a generic USB driver for Win98. If other hardware does work as you stated then the USB controllers already have drivers installed. If you bought this USB flash memory new did you notice on the packaging what OSes were supported. If no CD was provided there may not be any drivers available. Try downloading Everest home edition and run it. I don't know if it will see this hardware or not. If not, then maybe you can try it in a WinXP machine and posssibly identify it.

I don't think memory keys need a driver. When plugged in it recognizes it as another drive. The icon should show up in the tray down by the clock. Check the package it came in, it might only work with USB 2.0.
