I have a Gateway Astro 2000 "all in one computer". I ran the restore cd and now my USB keyboard and mouse do not work. I am stuck at the screen to enter my password after the restore cd ran. Both the keyboard and mouse work in safe mode.

There are only USB ports on this computer. How can I get past the password screen without a keyboard or mouse.

Thanks in advance

Install the drivers in Safe Mode, and see if it will take effect when running in normal mode.

The cd-rom does not work in safe-mode and I only have drivers on a cd.

Any other thoughts?

Try going into the computer bios and see if the USB features were disabled and re-enable them.

On the Gateway Astro you have a very limited BIOS. The USB is enabled, remember, the keyboard and mouse do work. If USB was disabled they would not even work in safe mode.

Anyone with some more help out there?

I am not up on gateway astro 2000. but one time i fix a computer so that it had no mouse and no key board and no cdrom.

Can you boot from floppy into MSDOSS with your start up disk?

Not having the drivers for my cdrom i had to take the cover off to get the mod.#,Go to the website down load drivers to another
floppy.(note: download exe. file drivers, NOT zip file!)
After installing the drivers for my cdrom i did a clean disk reboot of windows 98se
everything worked out OK.

Cannot gateway tech support help?

good luck, fgarvb1
