i'm wanting to know if any ones heard of a usb 2 cable runing 50 feet. i want to know this because i'm wanting to run a webcam to the back yard for a sercuity camera

I hadn't a clue so I put "maximum usb cable length" in Google and it showed 272,000 hits. I feel certain you will find your answer somewhere there (probably on the first page).
If not try the same using Google groups.

Errr....dare I say, you then use Google again to see if you can get a better deal than $99 on a USB Extender. I haven't tried.....

I have a USB cam running on winme ( and win98)
I think the top length of my chord was 25 feet.
Camera instructions say the longer the chord, the less the signal. True. I found this out when my cam would not pick up.. BUT BUT ( ya BUT /Yabut) It picked up the cam fine on a short cable, and then when everything was set up I shut down the PC and hooked in the rest of the cable... and rebooted and it was just fine !
As for security cams.. SEARS shows three online... great toys hat work with TVs and some come with a TV,... and they are about a hundred bucks Canadian $ . I think I found them by searching up SECURITY on their site. *s*
