I have been using AVG for several months now. Recently I added a USB Lexmark Scanner/Printer X73. Now when the boot function attempts to run AVGs 'Bootup.exe', the system hangs. I have to unplug the USB cable to get through the boot process. It starts bootup.exe then hangs. I believe there is a simple solution to this problem, I just don't know what it is...

My suggestion would be to disable the bootup check. If it's checking all your email and downloads, it seems to be unnecessary to check the system every boot.

I have a USB Gamepad connected and am using AVG also. No problem booting up.
Bios is set as yours.
I also have a quick boot option in my peticular bios settings that eliminates some of the power on test routines.
I have this option Enabled.
Other than that I cannot find any other setting in the Bios or AVG that would correct your problem.

AVG ver. 6.0.346
Win98 SE

Thinking about it as I was typing this out I know of many using AVG and Hardware connected to USB Ports.

I personally would un-install and re-install AVG.

Mr. Duncan, I gess you are right. Why do I need to check the boot sequence for virii (?-viruses?) If I am checking everything else. In fact, now that I have Ghost, To heck with the virus. I can reinstall Win in 20 min...
