Is a USB 2.0 device compatible with USB 1.0 connector? Is there any way to find what USB do I have on my PC. Is it USB 1.0/1.1 or 2.0. Also is there any way to upgrade USB 1.0 to USB 2.0

They are compatible in as much that you plug a USB 2 device into a USB 1.i port and it will work, but only at USB 1.1 speeds.

Likewise you can plug a USB 1.1 device in a USB 2 port, and again, it will only work at the lower speed.

You cannot upgrade USB 1.1 to 2 directly. If all your computer has is USB 1.1 the solution is to buy a USB PCI card and give yourself an extra two high speed USB ports.

Hi,

Device Manager will tell you if you have USB 1 or USB 2.

Look for the word Enhanced

You can upgrade by fitting a PCI USB 2 card. although USB 2 under Win 98 SE may not work.

You will need at least Windows XP SP 1 for USB 2 to work properly.
