Got a manufacturer floppy disk for wmodem 33.6 pc card. Can send files. But, got a problem when installing the modem software and rebooting my laptop it hangs???!! Completely... Using Win 98 by the way.. Anyone can shine some light on this peculiar problem? Pls shout for the drivers..

hello,
any can help me find the right "us robotics Sportster Winmodem 33.6 PC" drivers for win 95 (4.00.950 B).
in fact I download a file named winm336.exe from www.usr.com, after extracting files, I find one called install.exe. But this file doesn't work, it make a message like "it must no execute under this version of windows".
any one can help me or send the right driver. thanks a lot.

The problem is :
-in 3com support site (http://consumer.3com.com/winmodem/inf/index.html) exist two versions of winm336.exe, one is for all exorters except 14.4, the modem is pnp and the w95a,or w95c, can detect this, but the w95b is whit another file, more old, but this work whit the list on all modem for usr, the more close to "SPORTSTER 33.6 v34/v42b fax winmodem " this work the code product is 00112506, but before the com2 is enabled, and whitin devices atached.. or read the knowbase and fin the page for problems whit com´s and winmodems, i recomend clean the registry whit the file ftp://ftp.usr.com/usr/dl09/wmregdel.exe, this modem is very hARD to install in w95x, in w98 the com2 is the problem, and the pnp don´t work, but i recomended, upgrade to win98 secon edition, in this, the modem is detected whit "3com winmodem TI" and work fine, but if you persist, see in the device setings and copy the .inf on w98se and all the files listed in the controller list, after install the modem whit this file and this is all.. but remember the com2...

Stop panicking or slagging everyone off and have a look at your Windows 98 CD.... THEY ARE IN THE \DRIVERS DIRECTORY!!!!!

The driver for this modem on the win98 CD is just a "Workaround" driver. It DOES work in 98 (in a fashion), but problems occur if you use the 98 driver in Win95.

Let's all email Usr/3com customer support and tell them to pull thier finger out and provide us with THE driver!

The US Robotics Sportster Winmodem 33.6 PC Card drivers can also be found on the Windows 98 CD, under the folders Drivers, Modem, 3com-usr, and Dec2000. They have the drivers for regular Winmodems for PCs instead of laptops as well, under Winmodem instead of Dec2000. I think that was previously mentioned too. I tried for days to find the PC Card driver online and never could. Your best bet is to use the Windows 98 CD.
