Posted earlier on this, but it apparently got lost in the shuffle. I was trying to get it installed in 586 Compaq with w98 for a friend. Found a driver that lets it install, BUT device manager gives it its own catagory "Winmodems". Click on it under device manager and get message it is functioning properly. DialUpNetworking wont recognize it as a modem. Click on modem icon in control panel and its not there. I also installed a 33k external hardware modem which is recognized everywhere and works fine but is under other catagory "Modems"
Whats up? I did use only driver I found for sportster that windows would accept. It however was in a download that included drivers inf files for lot of 33.6k sporsters. Couldnt find a specific driver download for CJE-0332 nor any specifically for w98. Thanks.

Thanks anybody reading this, but I solved my own problem. Found a w98 "generic winmodem driver" that works with this modem. It put sportster over into modem catagory under device manager, but labels it "winmodem driver". Will post it within a day or so over on driversguide.com. This was a bugger to find. Hopefully others may benefit. Lot people out here for whom an old inexpensive(sometimes free) 33.6k modem is just fine because their phone lines dont allow a faster connection.
