ok, you can go to a DOS prompt and type in ping without the <> or course...OR if your network rights restrict you from getting to the DOS prompt there are programs on the internet that will resolve the name for you. The service which is used to resole the domain name (or url) to an ip address is called DNS (domain name services) so look for that when you look for a program to use.
