I think... XP asks for a 233Meg Pentium 2 as min cpu; also at least 128Meg RAM...?

Is you PB capable of meeting that min spec.?

Your computer, even with the memory upgrade, barely meets the minimum system requirements. Even if the machine is physically capable of supporting XP, I wouldn't plan on doing much with it.

For one thing, your computer will have a hard time running newer software designed for XP. For another, the purchase price of XP will probably equal the value of your entire computer; is the upgrade really worth it?

If you really want to upgrade the operating system, my recommendation would be a slighter upgrade to Windows 98 Second Edition. It will run any software 95 can, and will be fine with your current machine.

By all means, go ahead with the memory upgrade. It is very inexpensive and will definitely increase the amount of software titles you are able to run.

Best Luck,
Bob

Here is some additional info (I was kind of curious myself):

*There is no upgrade package for Win 95 users, so you'll have to pay full price. Amazon.com has Windows XP Home Edition currently priced at $159.99 (after $30 rebate).

*Although the minimal processor requirement is 233mhz, MS recommends at least 300mhz.

*Check your hard drive size. The minimal size for XP is 1.5 GB. If your drive is close to this size, you will have little room left over for applications or personal files.

You'll have to find out more about your computer to know whether or not it is even capable of the necessary hardware upgrades.

Again, Best Luck,
Bob

Even if your computer has the minimum requirements to install WinXP you could run into other hardware and software issues.

Such as drivers for your video card or sound card.
You may not be able to run some of the software that you are currently using.

Try out the XP READINESS TEST. It will show you the incompatable software and hardware on your computer.

XP READINESS TEST

Take Care,
Mesich
