Upgrading 98 to XP, getting ntldr error

I tried upgrading 98 to XP, it went fine and then it got to the reboot part of install and came up with an error of cannot find "NTLDR". Can some one please help?
I am having a similar problem, trying to install Win2K over 98 and getting the "NTLDR Missing" error. Not sure I understood your response - you are creating an empty NTLDR file on c:\ & then running setup /ntldr ?
Summary: I would not recommend "upgrading" from 98 to XP...if you want XP, format the drive & do a fresh install. And there are ways around the activation ;)...
