I read somewhere that there is an unofficial patch or something that can upgrade 98fe to 98se. Can anyone shoot me a link to download that file?

You can upgrade 98FE to 98SE if you have the 98SE CD...simply pop it in & install it over the top of FE, making sure it overwrites the C:\windows folder & doesn't install into C:\windows.000.

You may have to rename a file called win.com to allow the installation to work...just do a search, find all win.com files, rename them win.old, then reboot & install SE as you normally would

You won't find that download but I did locate the Win98SE upgrade CD (This is not what you were looking for but...). The current bid is $9.99 on EBay.

Although the Upgrade CD states it is for Win3.1 or Win95 it works just fine by running it from within Windows. It will state that it already sees Windows and do you want to continue? Make sure to install it to C:\Windows instead of C:\Windows.000 that it may suggest.

There are `Update' CDs, which are very inexpensive. They have to be run from windows. So you must have a running FE system to use it.

`Upgrade' CDs are expensive and can be run from Dos.

Wanna bet how much it goes for ?
I guess $65, it's an "Upgrade".
If it was an "Update" CD : that sold for $19.95 New.
Don't buy from that guy CD's only, i think he is printing them up himself.

The "Update CD" would be nice but where can one be found is the original question.

If by "that guy" you are referring the EBay guy then...
'That guy' on EBay is selling it with the manual and box. It's the retail version and not 'just the CD'.
I don't know the guy and I have never bought anything off of EBay.
'That guy' has a lot of good reviews too.
