I just installed Unreal Tournament on my computer. It seemed to run smoother on my old 550 Megahertz Emachine than it does on my 1000 Megahertz AMD Athalon computer..any tips on how to make the game "seem" smooother..there isnt any lag per se, it just seemed to play faster on my old comp..I even tried scan disk and defrag in safe mode to free up the virtual memory...it didnt seem to have an effect on it..What can I do to make the game smoother???( i have a fast machine with a ATI rage fury max 128 pro video card and i put the game in direct 3d mode)Thanks for the support :)

You may have a faster machine now, but I bet that you've got all the goodies cranked up to max! ;) Try playing around with your video adapter settings. Lower resoultions/refresh rates = more f.p.s.. Anti-aliasing and v-sync also eat cycles. Try to find a blend of rendering quality and performance that satisfies you.

If it's a new machine, you may have all the background applications running that the manufacturer installed that you'll never want.
Check the Msconfig.

Pick up this months (May 2001) issue of PC Gamer they have a excellent article about tweaking your system for gaming.

Check out these sites and if anyone else has a site that gamers would be interested in please post it here . In the past it seemed that this forum viewed gamers as a lower- life form and rarely responded to the questions posed. My theory is that game-play propelled much of the innovation we see in effect today and I thank them for it.
Whatever you use your computer for it's all basically related.
Game sites, forums or related info ,anyone ?Back to you , Craig.
