uninstalling internet explorer 5

I have been trying to unintall ie5 through both the windows updates and add/remove.
The windows update tells me uninstall is disabled, where can I go to enable it, I can't find anywhere. thanks

If you can't uninstall it through add/remove programs, you can always use Start/Find, type in Internet Explorer and delete all the folders that come up. After that you must also find these files and delete them before you can install any other version of IE. ATHENA.INF, INETMAIL.INF, MOS.INF, MSINFO.INF,OHARE.INF, and SETUP.INF

Try going to the windows update page ! it appears that they give you the uninstall option after it checks out your puter! Good luck! :-)

i am finding that Microsoft refuses to help, and that if you have Win95 the only way to solve this is to reinstall your operating system with Ie version 3. Then download version 5.01 and pray. If you have win98, I have no idea yet what to do

I ran across this article on Microsoft's site. It explains how to manually uninstall IE 5 for Win95 -- I haven't tried it out yet:

I, like the ohers hae tried to uninstall my explore 5.5 and have not had any luck yet.. will you please tell me how to enable the uninstall program that is included in the explorer program.. it is of no good to the users if it is disabled. thanks Elizabeth
