yep, just get unerase from norton utilities, one of the dos tools, that should do it. There are probably many other ways to do it, but I have used this one personally and it works great.

Unformatting a drive which was formatted by mistake with Norton Utility:
Do not try Unerase or anything else on the drive. Turn off your computer:
Case 1: Internal drives or A:/ drive, reboot your computer with Norton Rescue disk #1. Then follow the instruction on your screen for Unformat Menu.
Case 2: you formatted by mistake an external drive, like a SCSI Castlewood Orb or an Iomega Jazz or Zip drive. In that case you will have to use the Copy Disk Command to copy the original Norton Rescue disk. Delete the help files (not enough room on the diskette) Then you will have to copy onto that diskette the Files aspi8dos.sys and aspidisk.sys, they are the SCSI DOS drivers which can be found either in your Adaptec DOS software or (may be) in your Windows 9X CD-ROM.
Edit your config.sys file by adding the two following lines:
Device=aspi8.sys
Device=aspidisk.sys
Reboot your computer, follow the instruction for Unformat, et voilà!
Please note that the new version of System Works is a bootable CD-ROM (if your BIOS supports CD-ROM boot.) It will perform identically for internal EIDE drives. I have no idea as to how to make a bootable CD-ROM with the above mentioned changes for SCSI drives, still have to use a Diskette.
By the way I believe that this is one of Norton Utilities best-kept secrets!

Hi, It happened to me also. I used Powerquest Lost & Found. You should be able to create a boot (resotre)disk with this utility and thereafter restore your files or at least most of it. Once your done, I suggest that you back up your system with a program like Norton Ghost or Second chance. Good luck !!!

André.

I have formatted my hard disk using Win95.br utility named "OEMSETUP" that informed the data will be protected against formatation, (except if be used re-format). OK, that utility doesn't recover my data: what utility does it?!
Thanks a lot by help!
