uncompressing compressed drive

i'am trying to uncompress a compressed drive,but when i do it tells me there are some files in the root dir of drive C&H that need to be renamed.how do i get to the roor dir of these drives? thanks,Chad

Ok. Again, what OS are you talking about? It WOULD help you know.
The root directory of a Windows machine is just the command prompt c:\. If you start off in "c:\windows"... just type "cd .." and you'll be at the root of the file system. If you're talking about a UNIX/LINUX system, type "cd /" and you'll be at the root of the file system from anywhere.
What's the name of the files? YOU GAVE NO INFORMATION! Hell, is H drive a network drive? If so, you're screwed. Do a "find files" and find the damn files and rename them. I'm not getting where the confusion is here.
You MIGHT not have rights to it if you're talking about a network drive... I'm reaching here..

win 95,H is compressed drive,and FIND FILES DON'T FIND THEM! i figured it out by changing folder options to show hidden files and it was right there on C drive. anyway i got it figured out
