Unable to Share Internet

Hi
The situation is somewhat like this.

Network of 15 Computers-
1.) Server with winnt 4.0 - IP- 192.168.0.10 Subnet : 255.255.255.0

2.) Internet sharing PC ( WIn 98 ) with ICS installed & enabled. IP-192.168.0.1 Subnet : Same

3.) Client : ( Win 98 ) logs on winnt 4.0 . IP: Obtain an IP address Automatically ::: BUT Here is the Problem : It obltains an ip as : 169.x.x.x subnet : 255.255.0.0 " Not as 192.168.x.x : Subnet : 255.255.255.0 " . I want to share interner on this pc .

4.) Client : ( Win XP- Pro ) This pc does not log on to winnt 4.0 . IP: Obtain an IP address Automatically ::: BUT again the Problem : It obltains an ip as : 169.x.x.x subnet : 255.255.0.0 " Not as 192.168.x.x : Subnet : 255.255.255.0 " . I want to share interner on this pc also .

Please help how I can share internet on these or how will they obtain ip of range 192.168.x.x with subnet 255.255.255.0

Vishal,
169.x.x.x is address which windows obtains when there is no DHCP server installed on network. Either u specify address manually or install dhcp on nt 4.0. specify address range of 192.x.x.x. I think this will solve ur problem

Thanks for the reply
But It should store this ip : 169.x.x.x some where in the registry . Because acc to DHCP concepts this pc will continue with the previous ip as long it is available in the pool. I think that this value will be stored some where , but where , this is the mystry . If we get that location we can do the same without installing DHCP on winnt 4.0

Hey man !
I am not sure of your complications. It took me a month to get my two computers to share the same internet line at home. If this is your problem, then configure the router in your computers. Calls the product support line ot sort it out.
