Tried deleting from Safe Mode? DOS?

Good to see you're getting back to your old self jboy. Things have been quiet during your absense.

The access denied message is generated because you are trying to remove a program which is running. You need to stop this program first. One way is to use the three fingered salute (CTRL-ALT-DEL) and close the program if you can identify it. Or even close every program except explorer.exe. Of course stopping taskmon soon becomes an exercise in futility.

Running your virus scan in safe mode (keep pressing F8 from when the memory count ends and until the boot menu appears) will probably prevent the viral program from running in the first place. You can then do a virus scan and let the AV program remove it.

Manually deleting the files in DOS (accessed the same way as safe mode) is like using the big hammer. You have pretty much full control. Using this technique may result in boot up error messages when windows tries to run the virus.

AWOL? No, still around.

Sure, several ways of removing a file from the TEMP folder, but that may be only one symptom of a larger problem
