Unable to Browse My Computer Icon computer freezes

I am unable to Browse C:\ or D:\ thru the My Computer Icon.
The computer freezes the folder. (Search Light)
But I can browse the Network & view the computer drives perfectly.

In safe mode everything works normal.
Double-click on My Computer & I can browse the drives.

--------------------------

I have read a post for XP that stated they had the KLEZ Virus.
I searched my computer for the W.32.Klez gen@mm & W32.Elkern.gen.
But nothing was found. (used the Symantec Klez Remover Tool)
I also searched the computer with Norton Anti-Virus 2003 & Ad-
Aware 6.0 - nothing found.

Anyone with any suggestions.....please e-mail sw_601@yahoo.com

THANK YOU.

As a possible work around until you get a fix, you could try Explorer:
c:\windows\explorer.exe

Try the Repair feature in Tweakui .

Download TweakUi complete with install instructions from ,
http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp
By default , it installs in Windows Temp , I prefer it in UnZipped .
Access Tweakui from Control Panel .

Doorman could be right, but also check your CD or DVD drive(s). That would explain why it runs OK in safe mode - no CD drives.

Turn off the computer, unplug the power cables to your CD or DVD drive(s) and try again.
