I have a Dell Dimension XPS 750mhz.
I formatted my hard drive.
Reinstalled windows 98 with the original WIN98 software that Dell supplied with my computer.
The OS installed without any problems, except when I try to adjust my monitor resolution.
My setting won't go higher than 640x480.
I can't even move the slide pointer to make the adjustment.
Prior to formatting the hard drive I had no problem with resolution adjustment.
I've tried it with the Dell LCD monitor that I had connected to the computer prior to formatting.
I've also connected the original Dell CRT monitor that came with the computer to see if that made a difference but it didn't.
If anyone has some insight into this problem I'd appreciate the advice. Thanks

Yes, well, prior to formatting, you had the correct drivers installed for your video card - now you don't, and only standard VGA is available.
Likely Dell has your drivers onsite if you don't have them on a CD or floppy.
Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience

Try manually searching for new hardware through the controll panel. If that doesn't work, change to the "plug and play" moniter in the "moniters" section in the device manager (right-click "My Computer", select properties [bottom], select device manager tab [across top])

I am having the same problem, where you able to fix your monitor? How did you do it? I've looked for the correct driver download but with no luck!!
