Right. Got alot of crap from people last time. I have two computers Roughly 3-4 years old bout 233-300 but neither one nor the other won't startup. I got some idiot asking me wot OS they are using. Y ? When u power up either of them the monitor powers on but its blank. The computer also powers on but does nothing. I know the guy was messing about inside when one of them broke and was messing with ram which could be a possible cause. Can anyone shed any light on any of these. They both have the same problem with the same symptoms but both went at different times.ANy help at all would be nie. OPh BTW When u power up the lights come on and stay on. I tried unplugging everything to try to determine the trouble maker but no help at all. Thanx in advance

By unplugging everything, I guess you mean pulling all the IO cards except video. No beeps? Probably a failure early in the post. Try reseating CPU's. (Do the fans spin?) May be improperly set bus speed. Reset the CMOS jumper for that. (Pictures and instructions on the No Boot link at www.techtony.com).

Break it down like TT says. remove components till you get a response
from bios.
you say that someone was screwing with your ram: Okay, you need to verify pin alignment and seating. One time with simms i put mem
in backwards-it can be done.
Usually when the sytem won't budge you have a memory problem. start there.

Yes, ram can be placed backwards... the first computer I did it on just started beeping and wouldn't start... this computer on the other hand... *sniff *sniff... what's that smell??? :) (the two incidents were spaced a couple of years apart and I was in a hurry, that'll teach me)
