I have a similar problem with a Compaq Paperport scanner keyboard I have put on my fathers 98 machine. This uses a serial port connection (Comm2 in my case) but it will not find the scanner. Compaq are no help and the concencus of my flatmates (one programmer and two IT professionals) go back to 95, 98 is bugged to @*&£ etc. I had problems with my AMD K6-2 333 machine losing its registry every time I started up (?!) went back to 95 and the problem went.
It's probably not what you want to hear but I'd go back to 95 unless there are specific features in 98 you cannot live without!
If someone doesn't help me with 98 drivers for my scanner keyboard I am gonna have to do the same.

I just discovered....AFTER installing 98...
that I have the SAME problem. This isn't Microsoft's problem !!! It is Twain's responsibility to "keep up with the Jones's" and keep their software current! Perhaps an EMail avalanche might spur Twain into making these adaptations for all of us left holding the bag! I'm going to find Twain's page and start my own crusade right now....

As you may guess. I have a scantak scanner and have the same problem with the drivers. After calling scantak support I found out that they are out of business. This is why there is not an updated driver for the scanner. It is odd that they are out of business since I really like the scantak scanner.

The message that I get is that the scanner is conflicting with an area of memory that is used by my PCI controller. After some fanagaling I manage to clear up the area of memory and get the same message. Hopefully someone from Microsoft will read this and give me a clue as to the fix or hopefully a previous employee of scantak may sell us an updated driver. If you make it they will come, and I will be first in line to buy the new driver.

Dear Louis
If your scanner uses a parallel port connection, have you enabled the printer port to legacy plug and play ?
After doing this through hardware/properties in "my computer" and rebooting, the scanner should be able to be installed using embedded
support in Win 2000 pro.
Hope this is helpful.

Just upgraded to Windows 2000 and my ScanTak 2c scanner doesn't want to function. Get a rather generic incompatibility error and then the scanner software just shuts down. Any thoughts? Don't want to replace the scanner if I can help it.

Thanks in advance. Just a note, I did get it to work under Windows 98. I've tried both the Windows 98 and NT 4 drivers - no luck.

Same problem, buyed a scanner (Scantak 2c) and tried to install it on Win98SE en it doesn't work.
When I scan or prescan, the image doesn't appear. Not in the window, and not in my program from where I call the TWAIN driver.
This thing sucks.
